The Raisin Brans

Our family loves raisin bran.  All of us.  Jude, I'm sure, if he's like the rest of us, will learn to like it when the time comes as well.  It's pretty much a staple item in our pantry.

Maya has just recently decided that she doesn't like the "Raisin Brans" as she calls them (which would be the raisins) so she asks me if I'll pick them out for her.  Her breakfast request is as follows "I'd like Raisin Bran with no raisin brans." To the stranger's ear that may sound ridiculous.....or to her father's ear, but anyway, I get it, and unfortunately for me, I've been doing it.  I slowly poor the flakes out of the box so I can swipe each and every little 'raisin bran' before it gets hidden in the bowl and place it to the side.

Now, you might be thinking "so what?" I would do that for my child.  Here's where it gets tricky.  Do I put the raisins that I just removed back into the box or do I discard them??  Yes, I contemplate this question almost on a daily basis.  Because if I were to have a bowl of raisin bran next, my flake-to-raisin ratio would most likely be squed.  I know that some people prefer a lot of raisins in their bran, but I think that the makers of raisin bran got it just right when they filled the box, so I hate to mess with a good thing.

And yes, folks, I DO think of these things......regularly......somebody help me :)  And this was all before 7 AM!!
