Date Night

Aaron and I had the opportunity to go out on a date last night......finally!  The last time we had any time alone was a month ago on our anniversary for the afternoon, and before that, it had been over 5 months.  I've kinda missed the guy!  I've enjoyed having the chance to spend time with just him and I'm always quickly reminded of why I fell in love with him and why I continue to love him more all the time.  We have so much fun together, just being together.  I think I've made it a little hard for us to get away together because I'm still nursing Jude and he doesn't "do" bottles, so that makes it troublesome.  But I fed him his bedtime meal and left in hopes that he'd manage.

We went to Conklin's Dinner Theater in Goodfield, which was about a 5 minute drive from our home....excellent.  We left the kids at home with Grandma Lesa for the evening and bid them farewell around 6:00.  Our table was in the first row of the balcony, so we had a great view of the whole stage.  We sat with an older couple who were "dating." They were interesting, which Aaron and I decided isn't quite the word for them & seems like an understatement, but we couldn't figure out what else to say.  We got acquainted with them upon arriving and quickly learned that it was going to be a "fun" night!  We tried to scoot down to the buffet line before them so we'd have a moment to ourselves.  But then I was blindsided!!!  This strange woman in line right in front of us turned to me and began talking to me as though we'd known each other for years.  Now, I have to say, I must have a sign written across my forehead that says "Please talk to me if nobody else will listen" because I always stumble upon these people!  Maybe I'm too polite or maybe I'm just terribly unlucky!  This lady was deep.  She's on the hunt for all of her ancestors that are living because she's making a family tree, you know for the Ramsey family, and wouldn't you know she can't find any of the Collins' still living, except for the ones in some county in Maryland, which is really Baltimore, and this one man she found in Arkansas has agreed to do the DNA swab kit that she called him about even though it's gonna cost her $200-300 out of her own pocket, but she's really gotta get this family tree done, and that's just one of her husband's side of the family, she hasn't even started on her side, which is the Feltons and the.........get my drift.  Holy Cow!  She spoke to me as though I knew everyone and everything she was talking about.  And on top of all of that, I got an entire run-down of how many times she'd been to Conklin's and who she'd sat with and where they were all from.

So, then after getting our food, we went back to our table & I decided that maybe the folks at our table were not so bad!!  We enjoyed the meal and the play was hysterical!  Other than the loud and very weird laugh of the man at our table, we both had a great time and we had plenty to talk about on our 5 minute drive home!

Moral of the story: Go to Conklin's Dinner Theater if you get the chance.  Get your own table and don't make eye contact with any of the old ladies in the buffet line.
