Girls' Night In

Last night, I had the pleasure of spending the evening with 6 other women that I consider not only great friends, but family! It was a group of mothers and daughters.....and then there was me, the daughter-in-law, but I felt just as much a part of the group as anyone else :)  We all met at my mother-in-law, Lesa's, house for an evening of fun!!  A meatless dinner was on the menu in observance of Lent. We all had our assignments of what to bring.  I was on appetizer duty along with my sister-in-law Ashley. She made some yummy dips and a tasty grape salad to go with dinner.  I made a cheesy spinach artichoke dip.

Some of the ladies (from L; Justine, Karen, Mary, Ashley, & Liz)
We all filled up on snacks while our dinner of spinach-stuffed shells, made by Karen, baked in the oven. Dinner was delicious!!  We had such a great time laughing and chatting throughout our meal.
After dinner was game time.  All of the remaining snacks were placed in the middle of the table (because God forbid we have to walk a few feet and burn off some calories to get them :) and we set up to play Taboo.  After dividing off into teams.  Justine and I were "The Milkmaids" since we were both just that, breastfeeding moms.  Liz and Ashley were "The Double D wannabes.....enough said, and the "Mature" women of the group decided to call themselves "The Vibes"....(insert your own assumptions here) LOL!  It took us all a few rounds to get the hang of the game, but soon we were all getting into the spirit.  We all decided that Karen should just play for every team because she was anyways.  It seemed to be hard for her to remember when it was her turn to guess an answer. Too hilarious!!

The Milkmaids won and decided that the losers should have to take a shot........of breastmilk.  Just kidding!! But we did brag, do some fist bumps, and I think I even saw Justine stand up and do a happy dance.

On to dessert.  Dessert was Mary's assignment for the evening and I'll have to admit that we all had our doubts about the teeny, tiny, little pan that she brought and placed in the freezer.  We all kept harrassing her with questions about her dessert's ability to feed all of us.  As it turned out, we all LOVED the dessert.......and there was definitely more than enough.  It was a frozen strawberry and chocolate something or other.  Whatever it was called, I want the recipe!  It was a great way to end the evening!

Ashley and I found that after dinner and after dessert, both, that if we simply pretended to be deep in discussion or acted like were still munching a little that everyone else quickly sprang into clean-up action.  So........we just sat and let them do ALL the work.  How nice, right?  Nobody seemed to notice and we loved it!

What a great time!
