This morning I rewarded Maya for staying in her bed all night with some Starburst jelly beans. She was eating them and Jude woke up so I went in his room to get him out of bed, change and feed him. Maya came running in moments later exclaiming "Mommy, these jelly beans say Maya Paige A-Happy" (that's a direct quote). She walked over and showed me the writing on the jelly bean, which to my eyes, clearly said "Starburst." She recently did this with M & M's too. The "M" was mistaken for "Maya Paige A-Happy" on those as well.........hmmmmm, strange.
In her room, Maya has at least 3 things that say her name on them. She used to always ask or I would always tell her that that was her name. On the wall, on the pictures, on the little blocks on her bookshelf. It all says her name......so, therefore, doesn't everything else in the world that contains letters say her name too?? I love to see how toddlers try to fit the whole world into their few, little experiences to try to make sense of them.
A couple weeks ago, she and I had on Old Navy sweatshirts on the same day. As you know, Old Navy loves to plaster their name all over their attire so both of our shirts said "Old Navy" across the front of them. Maya came up to me and asked "Mommy, does this say Maya Paige A-Happy??" I told her that it did not, and that it said "Old Navy" on it. She noticed about 2 hours later than I had on a sweatshirt with letters on it and she proceeded to ask me if my sweatshirt said "Old Lady" like her's?? I about died. The things this girl says.........
